Recycling is a very important part of our modern day living and it is an excellent way we can all contribute to conserving our environment and saving energy.
The importance of recycling is two-fold. Recycling is not only critical as waste has a huge negative impact on our natural environment but it is also essential to cities all around the world and to people living in them.
In the current material world that we live in, we are fast using up the earth’s precious resources. There are so many products that we take for granted, but in actual fact the materials used to make many of these products are actually in short supply and we will run out of them naturally before long. As such, it makes sense to recycle.
There is also the energy implication, in most cases re-using materials through recycling uses much less energy than going through the whole process of creating them from beginning to end.

These days we can recycle almost anything! In fact up to 60% of our household rubbish can be recycled. There is still a great deal of waste, however, which could be recycled that ends up in landfill sites which is harmful to the environment. Recycling reduces air pollution (from incineration) and water pollution (from land filling) by reducing the need for “conventional” waste disposal.
If recycling was made easier and people were educated more on the subject of recycling, it is believed 9 out of 10 people would recycle more.  There are many sources available providing advice and guidance on the subject of recycling so we can all improve our recycling efforts and help to eliminate the culture of just throwing things away. By adopting simple practices we can all help to make a difference.
The important things to remember about recycling is what materials can be recycled and what is the correct method in which to recycle it. Recyclable materials include many kinds of glass, paper, metal, plastic, textiles, and electronics.
As well as home recycling bins, such as for paper and glass, there are many recycling banks across the UK that can be used to recycle different materials. In addition, we can support recycling in other ways such as by buying recycled products.
